Digital waiver

Please read and sign before you run or accept the challenge. We record your name and the date and time you accepted.

1. Voluntary participation

I am taking part in the Miles for the Mission 5K Runraiser, hosted by Nampa Gospel Fellowship, of my own free will and at my own risk.
I confirm I am at least 18 years old, or that a parent or legal guardian is signing on my behalf and accepting these terms for a minor in their care.
If I am signing for a minor, I confirm I am their parent or legal guardian and I accept every term below on their behalf as well as my own.

2. Health, fitness and medical care

I confirm that I am physically fit and medically able to take part, and that I have no condition that would make participation unsafe.
I understand that running, walking, and event activities carry risks including but not limited to slips, trips and falls, contact with other participants, vehicles or animals, weather and road conditions, dehydration, heat or cold illness, heart or breathing problems, serious injury, permanent disability, and death.
I accept full responsibility for my own health and safety and for knowing my own limits, and I will stop and seek help if I feel unwell.
I consent to receive first aid or emergency medical treatment if organizers or medical personnel judge it necessary, and I am responsible for any medical, ambulance, or hospital costs that result.

3. Release of liability and assumption of risk

I release, waive and discharge Nampa Gospel Fellowship, its leadership, staff, volunteers, event organizers, sponsors, contractors, and property owners from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, or causes of action arising from my participation, including those caused by ordinary negligence.
I agree not to sue any of the parties above in relation to my participation, and I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless from claims brought by others arising out of my own actions.
I understand this is a full release of liability to the greatest extent permitted by law, that it binds my heirs, family, executors, and personal representatives, and that I am giving up important legal rights by signing it.

4. Photography, video and audio recording

I understand this is a public event and that photos, video, livestreams, and audio may be recorded throughout the event, including of me, my family, and any minors in my care.
I grant Nampa Gospel Fellowship and its authorized representatives the irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right to record, use, edit, reproduce, publish and distribute my name, likeness, voice, image, and any statements I make at the event.
These materials may be used for church, ministry, promotional, fundraising, news, social media, website, print, and archival purposes, in any media now known or later developed, with no time limit.
I understand I will receive no payment or compensation for this use, and I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished materials.
I understand that other attendees, media, and members of the public may also take photos or video that the organizers do not control.
If I do not want to be photographed or recorded, I understand it is my responsibility to tell an organizer at the event and to avoid staged photo areas, and that organizers will make reasonable efforts but cannot guarantee I will not appear in crowd shots or livestreams.

5. Nominations, leaderboard and the challenge

I understand that names, nomination messages, and totals raised are shown publicly on the event leaderboard, and I consent to my name being displayed there if I am nominated or if I nominate someone.
If I am the top nominee, I accept that I will be asked to complete a light-hearted, family-friendly challenge — running the 5K in an inflatable chicken costume — and that this challenge may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed and shared publicly.
I understand that the challenge is meant in good fun, that I may decline any activity I am uncomfortable with, and that organizers have final say over what is appropriate.
I understand that private contact details collected during a nomination, such as email and phone number, are used only to notify the nominee and are never shown publicly.

6. Payments, donations and receipts

I understand that all payments are donations to Nampa Gospel Fellowship in support of the church expansion, are made in Canadian dollars, and are final and non-refundable.
I understand that an official donation receipt is issued to the person who made the payment, based on the information they provide at checkout.
I understand that portions of a payment tied to goods, services, or event entry may not be eligible for a charitable receipt, and that receipts are issued in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency rules.
I confirm that any payment I make is from funds I am authorized to use.

7. Conduct, safety and event changes

I agree to follow all event rules, course markings, and the instructions of organizers, volunteers, marshals, and emergency personnel.
I agree to behave respectfully and in keeping with the values of a family-friendly church event, and I understand organizers may remove anyone whose conduct is unsafe, harassing, or disruptive, with no refund.
I understand that no alcohol, illegal substances, or weapons are permitted, and that pets, strollers, bicycles, and headphones may be restricted for safety.
I am responsible for my own personal property, and I understand organizers are not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.
I understand the event may be delayed, shortened, rerouted, or cancelled for weather, safety, or circumstances beyond the organizers' control, and that donations remain non-refundable if that happens.

8. Privacy and personal information

I consent to Nampa Gospel Fellowship collecting, using, and storing the personal information I provide for event registration, participant safety, donation receipting, and event communication.
I understand my information may be shared with service providers who help run the event and process payments, and is otherwise kept private and not sold.
I understand I can contact the church to ask about, correct, or request deletion of my personal information, subject to records the church must keep by law.

9. Agreement

I have read this waiver in full, I understand it, and I am signing it freely.
I understand that my typed name, together with the date and time recorded by this website, forms my electronic signature and is as binding as a handwritten one.
I agree that this waiver is governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada, and that if any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
